EBS ANTIGO Abamectin 1.9% EC

1. Product Overview:
Abamectin 1.9% EC (Emulsifiable Concentrate) is a broad-spectrum, contact and stomach-action insecticide and acaricide derived from the natural fermentation of Streptomyces avermitilis. It belongs to the avermectin group and is highly effective against a wide range of sucking and chewing insect pests, as well as mites. The EC formulation ensures excellent solubility, easy application, and uniform coverage on crops, making it a reliable pest management solution for farmers.

2. Mode of Action:
Abamectin acts on the nervous system of insects and mites by stimulating the release of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which increases chloride ion influx into nerve cells. This disrupts the normal nerve signals, causing paralysis and eventually death of the pest.

  • Contact and Stomach Action: Provides immediate knockdown and residual control.

  • Translaminar Activity: When applied on leaves, it penetrates the leaf tissues, offering prolonged protection against hidden and newly emerging pests.

3. Target Pests:
Abamectin 1.9% EC effectively controls a wide range of insect and mite pests, including:

  • Two-spotted spider mites (Tetranychus urticae)

  • Red spider mites (Tetranychus spp.)

  • Leaf miners (Liriomyza spp.)

  • Thrips (Thripidae)

  • Aphids (Aphididae)

  • Whiteflies (Aleyrodidae)

  • Caterpillars and larval stages of lepidopteran pests

4. Crops:
Abamectin 1.9% EC is widely used in the protection of various crops, including:

  • Vegetables (Tomato, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Okra): Controls mites, thrips, and leaf miners.

  • Fruits (Citrus, Grapes, Mango): Protects against mites, aphids, and whiteflies.

  • Cotton: Controls spider mites and whiteflies.

  • Tea and coffee: Manages mite infestations.

  • Ornamental plants and nurseries: Effective against mites and sucking pests.

5. Application and Dosage:

  • Foliar Spray: 0.5–1.0 ml per liter of water (depending on crop and pest intensity).

  • Frequency: Apply at the first sign of pest infestation and repeat after 10–15 days if necessary.

  • Method: Ensure thorough coverage of both sides of the leaves for effective control.

  • Re-entry Interval (REI): 12 hours after application.

  • Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): 7–14 days, depending on the crop.

6. Benefits:

  • Broad-spectrum control: Effective against multiple insect and mite pests.

  • Translaminar activity: Offers long-lasting protection by penetrating leaf tissues.

  • Fast-acting: Provides quick knockdown of pests and stops feeding activity immediately.

  • Residual efficacy: Prolonged control reduces the need for frequent applications.

  • Improved crop health: Reduces pest damage, enhancing crop yield and quality.

  • Rainfastness: Quickly absorbed by plants, making it resistant to wash-off by rain.

7. Precautions and Safety:

  • Use protective gear (gloves, mask, and goggles) during handling and application.

  • Avoid spraying during flowering stages to protect pollinators like bees.

  • Follow the recommended pre-harvest interval (PHI) to prevent residue issues.

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from food, feed, and water sources.

  • Do not mix with alkaline pesticides or herbicides.

8. Environmental Impact:

  • Toxicity: Highly toxic to aquatic organisms and bees. Apply cautiously near water bodies.

  • Persistence: Degrades quickly in the soil and water, reducing long-term environmental risks.

  • Pollinator safety: Avoid application during blooming periods to minimize harm to beneficial insects.

Conclusion:
Abamectin 1.9% EC is a highly effective, fast-acting insecticide and acaricide that provides reliable control over a variety of sucking and chewing pests, as well as mites. Its translaminar activity, quick knockdown, and long-lasting residual protection make it a valuable tool in integrated pest management (IPM) programs, ensuring healthier crops and improved yields.
